There are several ways for getting from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city center in Bangkok. In this article I will explain the most popular options with it’s pros and cons. I will also explain why for our family taxi is the choice.

Taxi from Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport to the city center in Bangkok

This is probably the most convenient option, and you can find taxi stands outside the airport terminal. The trip to the city center should take about 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic, and cost around 300-400 Thai baht. Be sure to use a meter taxi, as it is illegal for taxi drivers to negotiate fares.

Taxis at BBK Suvarnabhumi Airport do not offer flat rates (fees) for the drive into Bangkok city centre. They calculate their price using a taximeter (or no taximeter;), so the final price is based on the time and distance travelled.

For us, as a family of four, travelling with two young kids: it is the default option.

Airport Rail Link to Bangkok city center

This is a faster and cheaper option, but it only goes to a few select destinations in the city. The Airport Rail Link station is located on the basement level of the airport, and you can purchase tickets from the machines or from the counter. The trip to the city center should take about 15-30 minutes, depending on your destination, and cost around 45-90 Thai baht.

Public Bus

This is the cheapest option, but it may be more difficult to navigate if you are not familiar with the city. There are several public bus routes that go from the airport to various parts of the city, and you can find the bus stops outside the airport terminal. The trip to the city center should take about 45-60 minutes, depending on the traffic and your destination, and cost around 30-50 Thai baht.

Private Transfer

If you prefer the convenience of a private car, you can book a private transfer in advance. This will typically cost more than a taxi, but it can be a good option if you have a lot of luggage or are traveling in a group.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
