How to plan a family Trip to Thailand: Tips and Recommendations

Thailand Family Trip

Thailand is a popular travel destination, attracting millions of tourists from all over the world every year. With its tropical climate, pristine beaches, and rich culture, it’s no surprise that many people are drawn to this Southeast Asian country. However, before embarking on a trip to Thailand, there are a few things that travelers should keep in mind.

Clothing

One of the most important things to consider when packing for Thailand is the climate. Thailand has a tropical climate, which means that it is hot and humid throughout the year. Therefore, travelers should avoid packing too many warm clothes as they will not be necessary. Additionally, there are laundromats available throughout the country, and clothing is relatively cheap, so there is no need to bring a lot of clothes. Overpacking can be problematic when it comes to moving around.

However, it is recommended to bring clothes with UV filters, especially for children, to protect them from the harsh sun.

Travel first-aid kit

Sunscreen is also essential, but it can be expensive in Thailand, so it is best to bring a good-quality one with a high SPF. Also, it’s always a good idea to consult with a travel medicine doctor and prepare a travel first-aid kit with basic medications. We needed medicines such as nifuroxazide and probiotics – luckily we had them with us.

Money

Thailand’s currency is the Thai Baht, but it’s recommended to bring US dollars or Euros as they are easily exchanged at the exchange office. ATMs are also available in most places and withdrawing more cash through them is also profitable. In Thailand, it is always a good idea to carry cash with you, especially when traveling to remote areas of this country.

Transportation

If planning to rent a car or motorbike, an international driving license is required. However, for a motorbike, you should have a category A of driving license.

If you want to use a taxi, in order to avoid being scammed or paying inflated prices, it’s best to use the Grab or Bolt apps for taxi rides. These ride-hailing apps work similarly to Uber and offer reliable and affordable transportation in most parts of Thailand.

Documents

Last but not least it’s essential to keep a copy of your passport on hand, both on your phone (offline) and email, and a hard copy as it’s required for all vehicle rentals.

In conclusion, Thailand is a beautiful and unique country that offers travelers a lot of excitement and adventure. By taking the necessary precautions and planning ahead, visitors can ensure a safe and enjoyable trip to this Southeast Asian gem.
